“…the One who formed you from the womb, ‘I, the LORD, am the maker of all things…” Isaiah 44:24
When someone very close to me announced she was pregnant, we were both upset, agreeing to talk the next morning. Asking her plan, she said, “I am keeping the baby, why?” I expressed fear she would choose abortion and did not expect, “I’ve already done that and will not do it again.” Years earlier I had two abortions, never giving them much thought as they were “just a clump of cells,” right? Ignorance had me believing this until her words came crashing down and I immediately understood the gravity of my actions, not only had I lost two children, but I had also lost her baby. She was “with child” not “with a clump of cells!” God had softened my hardened prodigal heart, opening my eyes to the obvious. I thought my heart would never heal from the pain that swept over me, but with repentance came forgiveness and restoration. “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace…” Ephesians 1:7
God can take the ashes of our lives and make something beautiful, and He did in leading me to start Mama’s House in 2012. Today, there are 2 homes and an education/counseling center for pregnant mothers in crises. They are nurtured, loved and taught while turning their broken lives around toward success. Glory to God for this ministry where they are introduced to Jesus, the only One who saves and wholly restores!
I dedicated myself to learn about the developing baby in the womb and ask you to also learn and share. A baby’s heart is beating within 21 days of conception, before a mother knows she is pregnant. Just sharing that fact can save a life. January is Sanctity of Life month and another grim statistic has been released that during 2020, 42% of all deaths, worldwide, were abortions, 42.6 million. According to Johns Hopkins University, the number of pregnancies terminated worldwide in 2020 is greater than the total number of people that succumbed to all other leading causes of death listed, it was in 2019 as well. Abortion still is the leading cause of deaths in America and is so prevalent it touches every family. Pray fervently and do what you can to educate others that there is help.
